L’opera scultorea si erge della Questione Meridionale di Antonio Gramsci, fondendo ceramica e ferro in un gioco di tensioni che esprime il contrasto tra fragilità e forza. Le frese agricole in ceramica, simbolo evocativo del Sud Italia, incarnano la radicata tradizione rurale e le difficoltà storiche di questa terra ma anche gli stereotipi da essi derivanti. L’opera si sviluppa in dialogo con il pensiero di Antonio Gramsci e i Subaltern Studies sul silenziamento delle voci marginalizzate. In questo modo, la scultura diventa una potente metafora delle dinamiche di potere che hanno storicamente marginalizzato il Mezzogiorno, invitando a riflettere sul bisogno di ascoltare e dare visibilità a chi è stato escluso.
The sculptural work rises from Antonio Gramsci’s Southern Question, blending ceramic and iron in a play of tensions that expresses the contrast between fragility and strength. The ceramic agricultural blades, evocative symbols of Southern Italy, embody the region’s deep-rooted rural tradition and historical struggles, while also reflecting the stereotypes that have stemmed from them. The work unfolds in dialogue with the thought of Antonio Gramsci and the Subaltern Studies movement, focusing on the silencing of marginalized voices. In this way, the sculpture becomes a powerful metaphor for the power dynamics that have historically marginalized the Italian South, inviting reflection on the need to listen to and give visibility to those who have been excluded
